Built by John Jacob Astor, the hotel was constructed between 1832 and 1836 in order to provide comfortable living accommodations for New York\u2019s elite. Designed by renowned architect Isaiah Rogers, the Astor Hotel consisted of an unprecedented 300 bedrooms and 17 \u201cbathing rooms\u201d.
